ToupiTimes Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This policy covers the ToupiTimes educational Android game (package fr.storytimes.alphabet) and this introductory website. ToupiTimes is designed for children aged 3–8 and their parents or guardians.

1. Who is responsible

ToupiTimes is provided by STORYTIMES, operated by Sandra REMY (sole proprietor), 47 rue Vivienne, 75002 Paris, France. For privacy questions and requests, contact support@storytimes.fr and mention “ToupiTimes”.

2. Profiles and progress on your device

The game stores child profiles, learning progress, activity results, preferences and parent settings locally on the device. These support the learning experience and parent controls. The game does not require a remote account, email address or social login. Local profiles are not public profiles.

We do not sell personal data. The current game does not contain advertising, advertising tracking or social messaging. We do not request precise location or access to contacts.

3. Optional microphone activities

A parent must enable listening in the protected parent area and grant the Android microphone permission. During a listening exercise, a short voice sample is streamed over an encrypted connection to Amazon Transcribe (Amazon Web Services), Frankfurt, Germany, to convert speech to text and check the answer. A service request also includes the selected language. The app does not save an audio recording; it keeps the game result locally. Speech recognition is not a clinical or pronunciation assessment.

Microphone use is optional. You can refuse it, turn it off in the parent area, or revoke microphone permission in Android settings. Touch activities remain available.

Provider processing: Amazon Transcribe may store and use voice inputs to improve its service unless the service operator has opted out. We have not yet verified the opt-out configuration for ToupiTimes, so this policy does not promise that AWS immediately deletes voice input or excludes it from service improvement. Parents who do not want this processing should leave listening disabled. See Amazon’s explanation.

4. Optional learning assistance and technical data

When optional online learning assistance is enabled by a parent, the game sends an exercise identifier and a limited mistake count to our service, which uses Amazon Bedrock to select a prewritten learning hint. This request does not include a child’s name, raw audio or free-form speech transcript.

Online requests necessarily expose an IP address and connection information to our hosting and service providers. Our service uses IP information to limit abusive requests and protect availability. These data are used for providing requested features and security, not advertising.

5. Providers and international processing

Vercel hosts this website and the online service endpoints. AWS processes optional speech recognition and learning assistance. Voice recognition is configured for the Frankfurt region; this does not mean all provider support, security or operational processing occurs exclusively in that region. Provider operations may involve other countries, including the United States.

We use encrypted HTTPS and secure WebSocket connections for online features. Parents should protect their device and keep the parent PIN private. A local PIN helps control access; it is not proof of a parent’s identity.

6. Retention and deletion

Local profiles and progress remain until removed using the available parent controls or by clearing ToupiTimes app storage in Android settings. Clearing app storage removes all local profiles, progress and settings. Device backups, if enabled, are controlled separately through your device or backup provider.

The app does not maintain an audio recording archive. AWS may retain voice input as described above; the provider-side retention period and opt-out status have not yet been verified. Local deletion does not automatically delete provider-held data. A parent can contact us to request investigation and deletion of data held by our providers; we may need the approximate date and time of the activity to identify the request. Please do not send a child’s voice recording or unnecessary identifying details.

Technical logs and support correspondence are retained for the operational, security or support purpose for which they are needed, and any applicable legal requirements. A fixed retention period for provider logs has not yet been confirmed. Contact us to request details or deletion rather than assuming immediate removal.

7. Parents’ choices and rights

Parents may ask about access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability where applicable by emailing support@storytimes.fr. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We cannot remotely retrieve a profile stored only on your device.

Optional microphone and online assistance choices can be withdrawn through parent controls. Withdrawal stops future optional processing but does not automatically erase information previously processed. We rely on permission for optional features and on the need to operate and secure requested services for technical processing. Parents in France may also contact the CNIL about a privacy concern.

8. This website and support

This introductory site has no sign-up form, advertising scripts, optional analytics or tracking cookies added by us. Vercel processes technical connection information to deliver and secure pages. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to provide to handle your request. Support is intended for parents and guardians.

9. Changes

We will update this page when data practices change and revise the date above. Material changes affecting optional child data processing must also be reflected in parent-facing information and choices in the app.
